"Io sono qua": Tomaino's work on display at NEST stand, Marmomac 2017

A marked transverse line connects NEST, Nicolai Engineered Stone Tools, with the Ligurian artist Giuliano Tomaino. The Italian Company, led by Primo Nicolai, with over 40 years of experience in diamond and abrasive tools, focuses its activities on operators who work old and new generation composite materials to create unique or serial objects. At the same time, Giuliano Tomaino from the 1960s has been creating works of art using, composing and working materials of various kinds.

The passion for research is another fundamental element common to the two protagonists of this absolutely unconventional collaboration: the artist has always fed his creative vein through a careful research and experimentation work in various fields of culture and human activities. Just like the Company that, thanks to a highly qualified team and to the synergies with research institutes from the Universities of Pisa and Florence, is positioned on the market as a state-of-the-art reality in the research and development of tools for finishing materials from both the old and new generation.

At Marmomac, NEST distinguished itself within Hall 7, dedicated to tools and chemical products for processing, bringing Tomaino’s work “Io sono qua” (I’m here) into the spotlight. This is a work of dense meaning: a lively red hand that rises to the sky to assert its presence.
As a background to the installation, a large illuminated panel, signed by Tomaino himself, features a very special dedication that gives even more meaning to the work: "A hand, a flower, a sign, a reminder I am here."

The strongly desired operation of the Company, which dedicated heart and soul to finalize this synergy, has represented, within the exhibition scene of the International Marble Fair, an obvious element of breakthrough. "I am here", the main symbol of this year's communication, becomes an innovative vehicle of the message "Always in good hands" that leads the whole Company communication.
